Holidays

Holidays

What would each year be like without Holidays. I've always loved the Holidays and getting together with family. Growing up, as a kid, Holidays were the best. Also sometimes it is just my imagination, and I write up a good story into a poem. Whatever the case, I hope you enjoy the poems here, which are all about the Holidays.

8 - Ball

© by Bud Lemire on Jan 24, 2003

I remember long ago, it was on a dark morning day

To my sister's house, that we were on our way

It was my brothers John & Jim, and sister Cheryl too

Snow was lightly falling, as we took in the view

It was Christmas time, and she always had presents to share

And she wanted us to come, so we could open them there

I'll never forget the feeling, when presents were passed to all

When I opened up mine, and there was an 8-Ball

She told me I should shake it, and answers I would know

So I followed her instructions, to see what it would show

I thought of a question, that I could address

Then I saw the answer, it said "Definitely Yes"

I asked it some more questions, to see where it would go

The answer to my next question, was "Assuredly No"

For every question asked, it always had an answer to

It always fascinated me, that it always knew

I don't recall the questions asked, or if they all came true

They were special memories, and I have quite a few

I don't know all the answers, of what will come to be

Only of what means the most, in my 8-Ball Memory

For those who don't know, an 8-Ball is also a ball where you shake it

and turn it over and it gives you answers to questions asked.

Thanks to my sister Nancy, I had one in my childhood days.

A Beatles Christmas

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 16, 2022

Cassie loved the Beatles, she thought they were grand

Abbey Road, Magical Mystery Tour, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

She imagined herself, as one of the screaming girls in the crowd

She knew each song very well, and would sing them out loud

It was one Christmas, her family was gathered at night

What could Santa get her? She smiled with delight

Well, I don't have “Rubber Soul” or “Revolver” yet”

She wanted them all, so she could complete her set

It'll take time, before she had them all

She really loved John, Ringo, George, and Paul

She was so thankful, to love music like she did

She's been singing these songs, since she was a little kid

Now she is ten, and just starting out

As she sang out a verse of “Twist And Shout”

She first heard them on the radio

That's how she knew them so

Christmas Eve came, she was so excited to know

Santa was coming, with his “Ho! Ho! Ho!”

She hoped, that the Beatles music would be in his sack

She wanted it so badly, she sang out “Get Back”

On Christmas Day, the gifts from Santa were there

She stood there staring, and playing with her hair

Then she saw a wrapped gift, with her name on the top

That must have come all the way, from Santa's workshop

She opened the present, and jumped so very high

Rubber Soul,” “Revolver,” and “Let It Be” caught her eye

Yes!” she screamed so very loud

Feeling just like the girls in the crowd

Her Christmas this year, was the best it could be

For the Beatles came through, under the tree

Several days before Christmas, Santa was thinking

Listening to The Beatles, and Egg Nog he was drinking

He always liked the Beatles, and listened to them each year

He was happy to bring one little girl, some Christmas Cheer

A Christmas Card

by Bud Lemire on Dec 13, 2011

Since he passed away, life hasn't been the same

His heart attack came on suddenly, but nobody was to blame

Sometimes a smile upon her face, was so very hard

Little did she know, the magic of A Christmas Card

One day she wandered just outside her door

A Christmas Card was in her box that wasn't there before

Who could have given me this?” she asked out loud

Some sunshine seem to make its way through her dark cloud

She didn't know the person, who this card came from

Just to bring a smile to your face, and then some”

A stranger she didn't know, made her wonder awhile

Following her thoughts, there came a beautiful smile

It's been so long since she smiled, she cried happy tears

Never has this happened, in all of her years

She felt something within her heart this day

Folding her hands together, she began to pray

Thank you dear God for this moment in time”

And for waking up this old heart of mine”

She held the card to her breast

Feeling as though she'd been blessed

Every day after that, a new card would appear

People all around, filled her with Christmas Cheer

She was so happy, feeling this way

A kind act from a stranger, happened every day

Until Christmas came a knock came on her door

Opening it up, there was a big box upon the hallway floor

It had her name right there on the top

She pulled it inside, just so it wouldn't drop

Opening it up, she saw the most beautiful dress

She looked around, then came more tears of happiness

She noticed there was a little card taped upon the seal

It's an honor to invite you to our Christmas meal”

'We came together and put together the very best”

By the way, you might want to wear that dress”

On this day, at the age of eighty nine

Kindness from strangers was a wonderful sign

Holding her hand to her heart she smiled and said

Merry Christmas, I'm so glad I got out of bed”

A kind act from a stranger, no matter how small, can bring a smile and joy to anyone's world. Remember, “no act or deed goes unnoticed by those in the spirit world.” They watch us and guide us every day.

A Christmas Heart

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 19, 2014

At Christmas time, everyone played their part

Under the tree was the little girl with the wonderful heart

She held it up real high for all to see

And placed it in the middle of the tree

She wasn't little, but she played the part

Because her life went fast, but she kept a good heart

Life lead her to become an adult way too fast

Her childhood just didn't seem to last

She raised a family and watched them grow

Until it was their time to go

Her life lead her down the road

Sometimes it was a heavy load

Then one year there came a light

That surrounded her day and night

The greatest love that would ever be

That light she felt, was me

I was her light, and she was mine

The greatest love, love of the divine

The little girl that was lost long ago

Has been released with all the love I know

Beyond the body, there is the soul

Every moment this love will grow

Our love will never be apart

Our souls rejoice with a Christmas Heart

For this beautiful woman who is now a

little child at heart. I let her inner child

out, and she came out to play. The little

boy inside of me is so very happy. She

has such a wonderful heart and soul.

At Christmas time, she is the greatest

gift ever. Thank you Vicki.

A Christmas Love Story

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 24, 2012

At Christmas time what I'm thinking of

The gift wrapped up in a thing called love

Looking over at the Christmas Tree

An Angel is looking down at me

She has the most beautiful smile

I'm taken in by her Angelic style

From the top of the tree

Her love surrounded me

Wings spread so wide

She took me inside

She held me tight

I saw her light

It was so bright

Then we took flight

She took me to a time of a future event

I'm walking on the Island with someone Heaven sent

The most beautiful woman with a wonderful soul

The love she shares with me makes me feel whole

We made love by the fireplace

Followed by a warm embrace

Christmas bells were ringing

The Angels were all singing

A song to help us through

We each responded with “I Do”

The love was oh so sweet

Our lives became more complete

This Angel was the woman,

and this woman is Vicki.

With her by side,

life got even better

A Christmas Wish

© 2002 by Bud Lemire

If I made a Christmas Wish, it wouldn't be much

Just to always feel, your warm and gentle touch

To feel the love we share, through every season

Would be the greatest gift, and the best reason

It would give me more joy, than the Christmas Tree lights

To always know, you make me less lonely at nights

It would be more satisfying, than the cookies I eat

To have you by my side, because you are so sweet

And to see the stockings, hanging by the fireplace

Wouldn't come close, to the look of love upon your face

The gifts wrapped up nice, underneath the tree

Could not compete, with how you feel to me

With the mistletoe, right above your head

Your lips are shiny, as Rudolph's nose is red

And they are touching mine, underneath

As we hold each other, by the wreath

If I made a Christmas Wish, here is what it would be

My love would always hold you, and your love would always hold me

For that is what, I've always dreamed of

A Christmas Wish, filled with the greatest love

A Covid Christmas

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 2, 2020

It was Christmas time, a festive holiday for all

One young girl would face her losses, and have to stand tall

You see, this year, her Mom had Covid, which made her die

Her health wasn't good at all,” Paula started to cry

She knew that Christmas in her heart, wouldn't be the same this year

Life forever changed, without the Motherly guidance of one she held so dear

Her Dad left long ago, not sure where he went

Christmas with her Grandparents, is how it would be spent

It looks like her Grandparents, have a new Angel on the top of their tree

She was staring at it, wondering, “Is that Angel looking right at me?”

The Angel seemed to move, and suddenly appeared nearby

Glowing so brightly, looking so much like Mom, made her cry

Hi Paula, it is me, Mom, I had to come and say”

I'm doing so much better, since the virus took me away”

I know you miss me, so it's why I came to you”

I'll be your Angel, always watching all you do”

Paula felt a strong tingle, as the Angel touched her soul

The Angel returned to the tree top, after making Paula whole

She knew from that moment on, wherever she would go

Her Mom in spirit, would be watching over her soul

Paula spent each Christmas at her Grandparents house. To see

the Angel on the tree top. When her Grandparents passed, she

got to keep the Angel for herself and put it up on her own tree.

Paula knows it's not the same without her Mom. Yet she also

knows her Mom isn't far away.

The Next three poems have the same title, yet they aren't the same

A Happy New Year

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 24, 2006

A New Year is upon us, unlike the one before

Each one different than the other, opening a new door

Bringing new friends, who walk Earth’s path with you

Some who will value, everything you do

Growth and wisdom, seeing things more clear

This always happens, with each passing year

Accomplishing things, that dreams are made of

And feeling the presence of spiritual love

I stood upon the bridge, where two souls met

I flew high with a white eagle, how could I forget

I lived out my deepest fantasy come true

I saw life in this world through eyes anew

Only in time, can we move ahead

Can’t go back, or take back words we have said

We must treasure each minute, each hour, each day

And love everyone, everything, for being their way

Changes are growth, and growing is what we should do here

Accepting all that comes along, knowing Angels are near

Love can conquer anything, even our deepest fear

If we open up and believe, in A Happy New Year

Happy New Year dear friends.

I hope you know how special you are each and every second of the year.

A Happy New Year

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 31, 2012

A New Year is upon us soon

The bells are ringing a brand new tune

Reunions that are soon to be

One that will bring a love to me

Although this year is almost done

I won't forget about all the fun

One story ends and another one starts

Love growing deeper as one year departs

Another year captured on photos I took

Several more chapters to add to my book

A successful year of poetry

Words in my mind that come to me

Some people left us in this year

I know their spirit is always near

New people enter the circle of friends

Another year starting as another year ends

A dream of what the New Year will bring

All will come true as the bells start to ring

Happy New Year I say unto you

May your New Year be a great one too

A Happy New Year

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 26, 2021

She stood there wondering, at the end of the year

Thinking about the next one, and what she'd have to fear

So much is happening, in the world lately

She wondered, when she would be free

She wasn't alone, in more ways than one

Others were suffering, and it wasn't any fun

Her Spirit Guide, heard her every thought and knew

It wouldn't be easy, but she'd make it through

The virus spread everywhere, and stupidity too

She wondered what, everyone was going to do

The world's problems, wasn't hers to bear

She tried her best to relax, in her recliner chair

Visions and voices, came into her head

She didn't even need, to leave her bed

You will be fine, if you follow your heart”

For you have yet, a very important part”

She saw herself happy, and a bit older in time

She knew to give up now, would be such a crime

She knew now, she would overcome any fear

In her heart and mind, it would be A Happy New Year

In this world today, it has become harder. We aren't

only struggling to stay alive, but are fighting each

other for what we feel is right. It has become a

madhouse out there in the world. Yet, somehow,

some way, we will find a way to survive this evil

virus that has taken control of our beautiful world.

Together, not apart, we can win over it. If we can

do that, then it will be A Happy New Year.

A New Year

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 16, 2020

A New Year will start, but what will become

Of the people who listened, and those who were dumb

A vaccine on the way, what will it do?

Hopefully it will help, to start things anew

A new President will lead us, which will be great

There's hope for a future, we can truly appreciate

A New Year will start, we can make it our own

It can only get better, than the one we have known

For me, the best days are on the Island I love

Taking pictures of nature, and the clouds up above

So peaceful out there, and healing as well

Crossing the bridge, is like being under a spell

I wish for good health, I'll watch what I eat

I'll occasionally divulge, into something that's sweet

I'll exercise as much as I can, every day

I'll be thankful I can breathe, I'll be okay

As the New Year's bells ring, I'll remember this word

The New Year of “Peace,” like the well known white bird

I'll fly into the New Year, wearing a smile

Each moment I capture, I'll put in a file

I'm wishing everyone a Happy New Year. As we leave 2020

behind, there is hope for 2021 in many ways. A vaccine

for Covid, a New President and Vice President, whom I

think will do a great job. It won't be easy. I'll try my

best to live even healthier than before. I'll appreciate

each day I am alive and enjoy it as much as I can.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

A New Year, A New Start

© by Bud Lemire on Jan 1, 2014

A New Year has just begun

A new start for everyone

Hopes and dreams will all come true

All will work in many ways for you

A fresh new start to a brand new year

To be alive in life, for you are here

And with your choices will start anew

There's so many things that you can do

Changes come in many ways

Once you get through the haze

And when you do you will know

The path that lies before your soul

Everything will feel just right

Embrace your future with God's light

You should know you are never alone

Someone guides you from the Heavenly Home

As you hear the New Year Ring

Remember that the Angels sing

Fulfilling all events in your destiny

With love complete of all you can be

A New year has begun for everyone

and as long as we live and breathe

we can accomplish anything.

Sometimes it's just waiting for that

certain moment to arrive, and knowing

that when it is there, we can take part in it.

Weighing all your options and knowing it is

the right choice. Only we will know what is right

for us. Nobody else can choose for us. Just have faith

and know you are being guided to do what feels right

to you. No matter what anyone else thinks, that is all that

matters as your journey continues.

A Tiny Tree

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 14, 2004

It was a tiny tree

My sister gave to me

She wanted me to feel the Christmas cheer

As the holiday season draws nearer

We plugged it in

And the music would begin

Christmas music bringing joy

Memories from when I was a boy

Oh how the tree lights shine

I take this as a special sign

Visions fill up my head

Go anywhere where you are lead

The Angels danced all around

But they don't touch the ground

Their presence fills me with love

Suddenly a bright light appears from above

"Merry Christmas to you my son"

"Your journey continues, I'm sending someone"

"She'll light your way"

"Be your strength every day"

How will I know her?

How can I be sure?

"You will know, deep in your heart"

"For you each, have never been apart"

The light got brighter, and it surrounded me

And I thought of what was, and what was yet to be...

...A Merry Christmas

A Yooper Christmas

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 18, 2004

I'm having a Yooper Christmas, smack dab in Michigan's U.P.

I can't think of a better place, where I'd like to be

Christmas cards all hanging, around the entry way

And it's been snowing a lot, all throughout the day

The tree lights are shining, and it looks so nice

Outside people are slipping, as there's so much ice

I'm sipping a hot chocolate, making it even more complete

Cracking mixed nuts, and listening to the Nutcracker Suite

Soon I'll be opening presents, surrounded by my family

Hurry, please hurry, oh what can it be

Chocolate covered cherries, how did you know

I was so delighted, I had to "ho, ho, ho"

The women are in the kitchen, fixing up the meal

Peaceful and content, is exactly how I feel

The guys are watching the football game on TV

Yelling for their teams to win, whoever they may be

In below zero temperatures, da Yoopers celebrate this season

Clad in an Eskymo coat and chook, because outside it's freezing

There's so many ways, one can spend a Yooper Christmas here

Smack dab in the U.P. of Michigan, at this time of year

Remember a chook is what some people refer to as a stocking cap.

Here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, we call it a chook.

Alien Christmas

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 6, 2022

On a planet, far away in a distant place

There lived some creatures, not of the human race

They celebrated Christmas, much different there

These purple skinned Aliens, without any hair

With three fingers on each hand, and only two toes

And a dark purple knob for a nose

The gifts they give are from the inside

Of the Christmas tree, which is wide

Each gift is not physical, but made up of light

Which comes from the soul, and is very bright

They each give a part of themselves, which means so much

Into the gifts they choose, which is felt in a spiritual touch

Who is each gift for, and how will they know?

Like a magnet, it will recognize it by the soul

And that one Alien, will sense it to be right

This tree of souls, shines very bright in the night

It's not their whole soul, that is given

Only a part, which is cherished by each Alien living

It is the greatest love, to ever share

When your higher self, is aware

The gift you give, is a part of you

You celebrate this holiday, with all you do

It's an Alien Christmas, on this planet so far away

Where wishes come true, on this special holiday

Angel's Wings

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 15, 2003

An Angel shines atop the tree

At Christmas time she brings to me

A message that is loud and clear

A song of hope for all to hear

When Christmas season has got you down

You try to smile but wear a frown

Then upon your heart place your hand

Feel all the love across the land

The gifts received and the gifts given

Treasured moments in the land of the living

It's not the presents wrapped under the tree

But the love you share when it's flowing free

It's the gathering of family and friends

The Christmas cards and the news it sends

It's the love we feel when we touch

Other people that we love very much

It's what we feel when carolers sing

And the spotlight falls on the Angel's Wing

April Fools Day

© by Bud Lemire on March 31, 2016

It's April Fools Day, who'll be the fool

Do you know anyone who is breaking the rule

Remember when sugar was changed to salt

Well, I can say, it sure wasn't my fault

I'm sure you remember things that happened on this day

The tricks that were pulled, as life took us away

I remember telling a friend, I saw an orange spotted purple bird

She stood on a chair to look, craziest thing you ever heard

April Fools Day can be enjoyed, as long as it's harmless fun

There's so many people, and you can choose anyone

I once told a friend I had a Japanese Ancestry

I'm all French, so how could that be

Oh there are so many fools on this April's day

It's that time of year when it's jokes that we play

I haven't played jokes in such a long time

But not playing them today, is such a crime

April Fools only come around on the first

As long as they're harmless, it won't be the worst

If someone offers you a chocolate bar, it might be Ex-Lax

Because on this day, those are the facts

April Fools Jokes are fun, as long as they don't

hurt anyone. Wishing all my friends a Happy

April Fools Day!

Christmas Blessings

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 24, 2012

It's Christmas time again this year

Let's raise our glasses for good cheer

This year's celebration is different than before

Because this year brought me something more

It brought me love from another place

Helped me through things I had to face

It brought to me the greatest gift

God's highest love gave me a lift

Blessed am I to have this love

That was sent to me from above

God knows exactly what we need

He guides us each to where it will lead

For me this year it's not the gifts found there

It's the love that found me when I wasn't aware

It woke me up from a sound sleep

It's a love I know I'll forever keep

Her love keeps me warm throughout the night

She's an Angel with a beautiful light

I know the future will be the best

Because this Christmas I've been blessed

Love found me unaware,

and now it's the best ever.

Thank you God for this wonderful gift!

Thank you for your love, Vicki

Christmas Cards

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 14, 2009

I got my Christmas cards done finally
Did you receive the one that came from me?
I’m sure I had the address right
But it sure was a long night

There were those who passed, and I had to delete
And just when I thought the list was complete
Some new ones gave me a card too
So my list ended up being quite a few

I had to recheck their addresses and they were correct
Then got up to stretch, because I had a sore neck
Just one more to write out with a letter
I checked them off and I was feeling better

I addressed the envelopes and added the stamps with my tongue
While listening to Christmas music, and how each song was sung
I sealed the envelope and added it to the out going pile
Then I’m closer to being done, so I put on a happy smile

I should be done pretty soon
As I take in a lovely tune
I love to keep in touch with everyone
And I can feel it…I’m almost done

My cards are all written and sent out
And I realize what Christmas Cards are all about
It’s keeping in touch with those who mean the most to you
Those who have been there to guide you and help you through

Thank you for being here for me, and thank you for the Christmas cards that warmed my heart and soul. May your Christmas be filled with the very best!

Christmas Cheer

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 18, 2007

It’s Christmas at the Tower, hallways are lit
In the lobby all the residents sit
They talk about the present, and talk about the past
The ever changing world, where people never last
Many people have passed through the doors
They lived here before, on many different floors

Some say late at night, around midnight here
Former residents come back, to spread Christmas Cheer
They pass through the lobby, and down the hall
Moving the pictures, that are there on the wall
It’s no illusion, they really are here
Not to scare you, but to make one thing clear

You can’t hide from Christmas, wherever you go
So there are some things, that you should know
It’s the time of the year, you should be thankful for living
For the love that you share, is the best gift to be giving
The love from inside, can give someone a lift
And that can be the most powerful gift

Spreading the cheer, is what it’s all about
Living the present, never going without
These spirits, go to each floor spreading the Christmas cheer
Never let them catch you, shedding a tear
For they will be watching, and waiting for you
They’ll embrace you with love, and other things too

In one room they stop, Christmas Bells are ringing
And a voice can be heard to be singing
“I’m having a Harbor Tower Christmas tonight”
“The tree all lit with the most beautiful light”
“All different colors, shine all around”
“This is where God’s love can be found”

Christmas Is Much More

© 2001 By Bud Lemire

The true meaning of Christmas, is not the gifts you receive

But the love that you share, and the love that you believe

Christmas is much more, than the gifts under the tree

It is the heartfelt love, we share with our friends and family

Christmas is much more, than the snow upon the ground

It is the spirit that is within our hearts, always to be found

Christmas is much more, than the cards we exchange throughout this season

Taking time to appreciate all we have in life, is the greatest reason

To share a smile, with a stranger

To warn others, who are in danger

Taking the time, for a worthy cause

Seeing the good in everyone, not the flaws

Taking the moment, to wipe a friend’s eyes of tears

Calming their worries, listening with both ears

Christmas is taking the time, to always be there

To let the ones we love, know how much we care

Christmas is much more, than Santa Claus and his reindeers

And it’s much more, than taking on all the world’s fears

Christmas is much more, than the brightly shining star

Christmas is the warmth in our soul, that makes us who we are

Christmas is the love, that we share with each other

A special gift of the spirit, for my sister and my brother

Christmas is much more, than the gifts purchased in a store

It's the love we share freely, which makes life worth living for

Christmas Memories
© by Bud Lemire on Dec 6, 2008

As you gaze at the ornaments on your Christmas tree
Each of them unique in their own special way
They each have a story, but only you may know
Somewhere in your past, a memory touched your soul

A time when Mom & Dad were strongly present here
And the ornament’s memory slowly releases a tear
The joy each one has brought onto you
Happier times that you had been through

You even have one that Grandpa had placed on the tree
A cherished remembrance of a time that use to be
So many memories pass through your mind
Treasured gifts you shared within your lifetime

A time when the whole family gathered around on Christmas day
Today they’re all grown up and have gone their own way
Replacing their faces with other people in your life
A lover or friend, or a husband or a wife

Memories can be treasured, but the present is a gift
Appreciate each moment for its joyous uplift
Smile and have yourself a Merry Christmas from me
And a Happy New Year with more of my poetry

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone

and thanks for the memories

Christmas With Timmy

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 11, 2021

It was suppose to be the best Christmas this year

But every smile, was followed by a tear

Covid took his Mom, she was needed in Heaven

Little Timmy, heartbroken, was only seven

His Dad was in the Hospital, and very sick

He thought him being there, would do the trick

The Doctors and Nurses, tried their very best

Daddy was going to stay there, as their permanent guest

Off he went to stay with Auntie Claire

He wondered why he ended up there

On the Ventilator, no improvements on Dad

The tears would flow, Timmy was very sad

Sometimes he got to watch, the news on TV

So many people, not wearing masks, he could see

How stupid, could these people be

If they only knew, what happened to me

He said a little prayer, before going to bed

These are the words, that went through his head

They are afraid, and excuses they do make”

Making it worse, with each move they don't take”

Timmy wondered, if there was some way

To get them to understand, with every day

Even on their death bed, they will deny”

That this virus is real, which would be a lie”

For Christmas, he opened up his gift

Something, that would give him a lift

A family portrait, that he'll always remember

Every Christmas time, every month of December

An Angel whispered “We took your Daddy today”

It's okay, he'll be better now, anyway”

Timmy held the picture, close to his heart

He knew that their love, would never be apart

Timmy was just a boy then. He grew up and gave

many lectures on the importance of believing and

doing the right thing for your health. There were

still some who didn't believe, but there were many

who were touched by what he experienced in his life.

He changed the way many people thought. But there

were still those who were Brain-Washed, which he could

not do anything about. They would have to learn the

hard way.

  Each New Year

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 19, 2018

You never know, what each new year will bring

It could come at any time, or be anything

Oh, what an adventure each new year can be

Unlike the previous one, all new to me

The pictures I'll take, the poems I will write

A summer day on the island, taking in some delight

An event in the area, will bring such a crowd

I'll capture it perfectly, I won't be too proud

What's in the new year for you?

Can you imagine, what you will do?

Each year, I learn as I grow

There's always something new you should know

The calendar's pages, turn so very fast

Times are too precious, moments don't last

Memories fade, yet in pictures they stand still

Words in a poem, can be an emotional pill

What will each new year, hold for you

Will it hold fast, will it be true

One step forward, and you'll find out

Try to be positive, there's no room for doubt

I hope your New Year is a great one. Remember to

enjoy each moment, and be aware of the greatness in it.

That moment may never come again. So cherish it, and

learn from it, and grow from it. Like an adventure, travel

down each day, week, month, and year, and explore your

life. And remember most of all, add love to each day. You

will find by doing this, life will be so much better.

Giving Thanks

© by Bud Lemire on Nov 11, 2008

As Thanksgiving comes around, I have some things to say
Bow your heads with hands together, join me as I pray
Mostly at Thanksgiving we think of the Turkey
But there is so much more, so here they are from me

Thank you God, for giving us this wonderful place
A home where we can rest, with the daily problems that we face
It’s been good for me being here
Many wonderful people throughout the year

Everyone so unique in their own way
It’s always interesting to hear what they have to say
Old and young, and some so wise
Many shapes, and every size

Len does his best to keep the place running strong
With Steve and Mark helping, we can’t go wrong
Mary Lynn and Judi keeping things running square
What would we do without them being there

Just like the President running the country, it’s not easy to do
But they do their jobs, making it easier for me and you
And they’ll try to help you out in any way
They’ll be thankful they made better your day

The beautiful scene that is nearby
Ludington park, where seagulls like to fly
God has done a wonderful job oh yes
We surely are fortunate and absolutely blessed

So I’m giving my thanks for all of the things
Found in each day, and the love it brings
Thank you for you, and thank you for me
Bring on the Turkey, I sure am hungry! Amen!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! I hope your day is filling and tasty and spent with the ones you love. Try not to spend it alone if you can help it.

This next one is a different one with the same title

Giving Thanks

© by Bud Lemire on Nov 13, 2017

Giving thanks, because I am living

Appreciation for the food that's been given

Turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, and gravy

Cranberry sauce, the pumpkin pie will fill me

Gathering with Family and friends

The thankfulness never ends

Cut the Turkey, so tender to chew

I take off my hat, and salute you

Green bean casserole, I'll try some

Although, it's not for everyone

So much food, to pick from

I'll just fill my plate some

My belly knows how much to eat

Yet my mind doesn't know defeat

Belly versus mind, the battle never stops

Until the button on my pants, pops

I can't eat all that food, no way

You have way too much, on display

I'll just have a dab of this and that

Maybe I'll get by without getting too fat

I appreciate the food that's been given

I give thanks, because I am living

Thanksgiving is always being thankful

for everything you have. Food, and so

much more.

Halloween Window

© 2001 by Bud Lemire

As I look out the window, and down the street

I place something in my mouth, and it tastes sweet

Watching all the children, as they come to call

They yell “Trick Or Treat,” as I pray they don't fall

Onto the front porch, here they come

All over the city, is where they are from

They come in all sizes, and all shapes too

Big kids among them, as I take in the view

With my clown wig, placed firmly upon my head

I wait for the words, on this day that are said

Some are taken in, by my colorful hair

The youngest of children, in silence they stare

I smile as I pass out the candy to each

I walk down the steps to those out of reach

To see a smile on their faces, I smile too

It just comes naturally, the right thing to do

Oh here comes a woman, with the purple hair

There's blood dripping from a ghoul, that gave me a scare

That witch, she is flying too close to the ground

And that ghost is so quiet, not making a sound

I'm sure I did see, a large bumblebee

That came on my porch, for some candy from me

Some looked so normal, I just had to ask

Is that your real face, or are you wearing a mask?”

I gave out Tootsie Rolls and caramels, to each one that came

And the candy bowl emptied, never staying the same

As I looked out the window, I'm feeling a bit wild

For inside me there remains, part of a child

Halloween is for sharing and giving, at this time of year

With a Jack O' Lantern smile, and a ghost that is near

For life can be, A Trick or a Treat

Each day of the year, with new people you meet

It was my last year of passing out candy at the Family Home.

Happy Easter Times
© 2002 by Bud Lemire

I remember Easter time, long ago in our family
Mother would hide the baskets, filled with all the candy
One year I found my basket in the pantry
But there were many other places it could be

Sometimes it could be anywhere at all
You had to search the rooms from wall to wall
You might find it in the oven, or behind a chair
It was always fun to look, and find out where

Coloring the eggs, was so much fun to do
Yellow, green, red, and my favorite color blue
After they dried, they were placed in the big basket for display
It wasn’t long before some were missing, no one could keep away

As we got older, the baskets weren’t hidden anymore
I hold these memories, deep within my inner core
Then years later, the Easter Bunny once again came to us all
Baskets filled with jelly beans, mysteriously appeared in the front hall

We found out later, it was my sister Nancy’s act
She wanted the spirit of Easter, in this family, to come back
It was these special moments, I think about each year
They always remind me, of all the things I hold dear
The Easter holiday for my family, will always play a special part
For the love that we shared, brought so much joy to my heart

Thank you Mom, and thank you Nancy,

for keeping the Easter spirit alive

Happy Valentines Day Vicki

© by Bud Lemire on Feb 11, 2016

As Valentines Day rolls around

There's a woman's heart I'm glad I found

The sweetest soul that could ever be

Truth be told, I think she found me

Her soul was guided in the Astral Stream

To become part of my wide awake dream

From there we were inseparable, never to be apart

Becoming one in mind, soul, and heart

Her voice makes me smile and so much more

A loving sensation touching my very core

Her warm love throughout every day

Embraces me in the night, it never goes away

It seems all my life I've been waiting to meet

This woman named Vicki, she is so very sweet

Twin Flames burning a love in a passionate fire

That intertwines within by a consuming desire

Love at its very best is what we feel

A sensational pull with sensual appeal

Holding her close, I'll never let her go

This woman I love, has the most wonderful soul

Thank you so very much Vicki. for the love you share

with me every day and every night

Have A Happy New Year

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 28, 2016

Into The New Year we go

As we continue, also we grow

Exploring life every day

Enjoy every moment” is what I say

Where will the New Year bring you?

Now that one year is through

Only time will tell, what it'll be

I know that only you hold the key

With that key, you can unlock any door

Which will lead you, to something much more

Within you, there is the soul

It'll help you reach, any goal

Your inner strength, is your guide

It all comes, from the inside

What feels right, is the answer you know

It will being you, to where you should go

Life doesn't last forever, so enjoy it to your best

Because this body you're wearing, has truly been blessed

Treat your body and soul good, and hold it dear

And be enlightened, as you have a Happy New Year

Remember, you can accomplish anything you set out to

do. You have that inner soul that gives you strength and

willpower to conquer and prevail any fear. Your goals

are limitless. You'll be happy you did. And it will make

for a very Happy New Year.

In Every Year
© by Bud Lemire on Dec 20, 2008

As the year ends, keep this in mind
A new one begins, leaving the other behind
Memories shared in the year that has passed
More in the New Year, special ones that will last

Moments to treasure, with each passing day
Beauty all around us, put on display
Every year holds so much for each
Think of each day and what it can teach

In every day there’s something good to be found
If your eyes are open and you look around
Take in the song that life’s sung for you
Be happy in everything that you do

Treat others in a good way, and you’ll receive what you give
Each moment is precious in this life that we live
The unselfishness we learn will set us free
Our spirit will fly, and all things will be

A kind smile for a stranger or maybe a friend
Will carry them far, with the image you send
Get the most out of each moment, then you will know
From each experience, it’ll help your spirit to grow

Don’t dwell on the worst of what will come to be
Think of the best future, that is the key
For In Every Year there’s so much to behold
As the days all add up, miracles of life will unfold

Remember to enjoy each year, each month, each week,

each day, each hour, each minute, each second of your life,

for each moment is precious. Time changes everyone and everything,

and we can never go back to this one moment again…except in our memories.

Last Dance At Christmas

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 3, 2016

She wondered when her life would end

Right now she sure could use a friend

Why do they stay away from me”

Was this the way life was going to be”

Diagnosed with Cancer earlier this year

She lives each moment, now in fear

She experiences pain, no child should go through

The people who know her, haven't the faintest clue

She sits alone in her bedroom, reading a book

The Fantasies she reads, give her a new outlook

She drifts far away, to another place

Which stops her from thinking of all she must face

The Chemo has worn her down, she lost all of her hair

She tries not to think about, how life can be so unfair

At night she cries and asks “Why me?”

I never asked for this, so why should it be”

Time was passing quickly, Christmas time was almost here

She reserves all her strength for some Christmas cheer

But inside her, there dwelled all this fear

Would I still be around for Christmas this year?”

The pain was too much, for her to take

If not for love, she would surely break

Her parents gave her the very best

They supported her through every test

As Christmas drew closer, she really missed her friends

And wondered “Is this really how my life ends?”

Then one night, there came a light

The Angels danced, and it was so bright

We've come to give you, one last chance”

To join us in, this Awakening Dance”

She looked around, and saw all her friends

Dear Armelia, this will be how your life ends”

One friend took her hand “Please come with me”

They wandered outside, for everyone to see

Liam bowed and asked her for this dance

She smiled and then she took a glance

A circle of her friends, were all around

In the middle, she and Liam were found

They danced until she could dance no more

She was so much happier than she was before

Liam whispered “Our parents didn't understand your disease”

Which made them all, in a state of unease”

The Angels who have brought us here”

Have banished all of our parents' fear”

Armelia looked up, she knew her time was here

All of her pain was gone, and she had no fear

Armelia entered Heaven, and she had a new role

Helping those with this disease, to uplift their soul

And upon this very Christmas night

In the sky high above, was a new star shining bright

Remember everyone, people who are going through

such a disease, need a friendly face to see in person.

Don't be afraid to stop and see them. It will only take

a moment to bring so much happiness and comfort to

someone who you treasure in this life. Because once

they are gone, you can never have that chance. Armelia

went on to help those battling the disease here on Earth,

and she knows the value of friends. Don't let your fears

be the thing that causes you not to see your friend who

needs you even more now than ever. Go see them.

Merry Christmas From Heaven

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 21, 2013

I know you feel the loss, here on Christmas Day

Loved ones that have passed, are around in every way

The bond that you shared together, it will always be

In this life and after, gather around the Christmas tree

Each light on the Christmas tree. Lit up for a reason

Not just to celebrate, this wonderful holiday season

Memories of the past, they come surging through

You think they're gone forever, but that's not true

Look deep inside, where resides the soul

You will find the answers, and you will know

They watch you and they come around

Bringing love silently without any sound

Sometimes when you're tuned in, you will know

It will give you feelings, of an inner glow

Energies will pass through you, like a warm embrace

Touching you deeply, bringing a smile to your face

If by chance you don't feel it, then know this my friend

Their lives here on Earth, wasn't really the end

They guide you every day, with all of their love

Spirits sharing what they know, with God's love from above

Their physical presence is missed, the pain can get so deep

But the love you shared, is always yours to keep

Every present that you find under the Christmas tree

Are the times they're “Present”, and will always be

You're never alone at Christmas, it's a state of mind

Look deep inside your soul, and you just might find

Someone from Heaven is close by and touching you

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too

My Valentine Each Day

© by Bud Lemire on Feb 14, 2009

Two hearts that beat together

Endless love to always treasure

Two souls intertwined as one

Always giving love, never done

The touch of two

That's me and you

Two hearts that are true

Putting love into what we do

Two spirits giving all of their love

A special woman is what I dreamed of

She gives it all, all that she's got

And I feel it all, and that is a lot

A best friend, a lover, and so much more

A human so much closer than ever before

Her touch, her breath, her love so divine

A beautiful woman who's my Valentine

When her heart touches mine, I'm filled up so deep

Her soul holds me tightly when we are asleep

Oh Linda, dear woman, my Valentine each day

My heat beats for you, in every way

Linda, thank you so much for being the beat in my

heart. For always sharing your love with me. For

always touching me with your loving energy.

I Love you now and forever.

Happy Valentines Day!

New Year

© 2001 by Bud Lemire

A New Year begins, while another year ends

Seems like each year, I make many new friends

I'm always discovering, so many new things

And taking on, whatever the future brings

From the start of January, to the end of December

These are some special times, I'll always remember

When another year starts, and one year is all done

I wonder what the year will bring now that it has begun

Will it be a year, that is better than before

Could it be a year, to wish for something more

Will it bring more sadness, that I could do without

Or bring me so much happiness, to make me scream and shout

Could it be the year, that I've been waiting for

Still I have to wonder, as I open every door

Will I treasure everything I find, as each door is opened wide

The love of the human spirit, the jewels from deep inside

Could this year bring me, something good each and every week

Sometimes the best things that happen, are things that we don't seek

I will turn the pages of the calendar, and see what each month will bring

I will share with everyone, each new song that I will sing

As we come to every number, upon the calendar on the wall

Through the days of every month, while my spirit is standing tall

As we leave one year behind us, I will not shed a tear

For there are many happy days, found in each and every New Year

Every year has it wonderful moments that we can cherish, as well

as some we wish never to experience again. Each new year is like

opening a present just to find out what is inside it.

New Year 2006

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 29, 2005

As the New Year 2006 is upon us fast

I think of the future, the present, the past

2005 brought me so much in beauty

Pleasure in all I do in my duty

It brought me a new, strong love my way

The kind you feel within, throughout every day

Miraculous messages from souls no longer around

Letting me know they're with me, wherever I'm bound

It brought me closer, to those that are here

Reminding me that those who have passed, are truly near

Memories, and things to look forward to

Making the mundane, more alive and new

Ring in the New Year, with a brand new start

That will touch your soul, and melt your heart

If only you open up, and let it all in

A New Year and a New Life, then will begin

Ring it loudly. let others listen well

To the joyous sound, of your New Year's bell

Make each moment, of your life worthwhile

By starting anew, let everyone see your smile

New Year Bells Are Ringing

© by Bud Lemire on December 26, 2011

The New Year Bells are ringing

I can hear the Angels singing

New beginnings will start

Choices will come from the heart

Changes will allow us to see

All the things we wish to be

So many times our worries are in control

When our strength lies within our soul

We are much stronger than we know

Our experiences help us to grow

They mold and shape us

Teaching us to have faith and trust

All will be as it should be

Giving is essential to life's key

Yet receiving is a big part too

Knowing what to say and what to do

As you hear the New Year's Bells ringing

Listen to what the Angels are singing

The spirits that guide you are all around

They are wherever people are found

Even though you may not hear what they say

They hear your thoughts and when you pray

Share with them what you need

And follow them to where they will lead

In the New Year, many changes will come. It's part of life. Everything changes daily. I know I for one don't always love changes. Until I get use to them. Once I do, they aren't so bad after all. Some of them are pretty good. I also know those spirits are around us and guide us. Angels watch over us if we need them. We just need to know as we listen to the New Years Bells ringing, that the Spirits and Angels are within our beckon call to help us whenever we need them. They hear us, and they help us. Easy access just like a phone or computer or a knock on our door. They love us and want to help us. Just pray and use your thought, and tell them where you need help with. They're happy to help us on our journey to be a better soul here on Earth.

On Each Memorial Day

© by Bud Lemire on May 27, 2006

Going through my memory

I think of things that use to be

The people who have been here before

The times we've shared, and so much more

Going back into the past

The memories will always last

There they'll stay, until in need

And desired, they can be freed

Many will visit the cemetery

To honor those they had to bury

A sad time, will bring on a smile

As they place flowers, and stay awhile

They'll reminisce of times long ago

Feelings that touch so deep, in their soul

You may think they have gone away

But you keep them alive, on each Memorial Day

On The 4th Of July

© by Bud Lemire July 2, 2011

I smiled as I sat there on the 4th of July

As the fireworks were on display in the sky

My camera busy snapping, trying to catch them all

Sometimes I got lucky, other times they would fall

The various different colors, illuminating for our eyes

In several different places, and in every size

A warm day it was, becoming a cooler night

Off in the distance I saw a sparkler's light

You could hear the oohs and the awes with each passing display

I was happy it was a great ending to a perfect day

There wasn't any rain to cancel this special event

I cherished this moment and how it was spent

Sister and brothers, nieces and nephews too

All watched as the sky was lit up with bright blue

It was great to be there with them in Ludington Park

The beauty of the fireworks looked beautiful in the dark

The finale came, many fireworks went off together

I was thankful all went well, even the weather

And as I left the park and started walking home

I saw others smiling and I knew I wasn't alone

It was a special night, and now I know why

Because it signified the independence, given On the 4th Of July

I want to wish everyone a happy 4th of July.

Whether you're with friends or family or alone,

I hope you can find peace and pleasure in all

that is happening on this special holiday.

Christmas is here again, I feel it in the air
People rushing to buy a gift, something they can share
What will it be this year, you can only do your best
Picking the perfect present can surely be a test

Cards arriving in the mail, from family near and far
Writing on the inside, to tell you how they are
Each year is different, than the one before
Special in their own way, who could ask for more

A gathering of family, which has really grown
Now the younger ones have little ones of their own
Sitting at the table, eating the Christmas meal
Taking in the surroundings that are oh so real

Presents are handed to me, “open them” they say
So I begin unwrapping them on this Christmas Day
A shirt showing a musical group I love to listen to
They got me exactly what I like, I wonder how they knew

A plate of cookies is placed before us at the end
Appreciation is spoken for this day that we attend
A warm feeling when it’s over, how wonderful it went
To take part in this wonderful Merry Christmas event

Wishing all my family & friends a very special Christmas and New Years.

Hope you can feel the warmth and happiness that is brought to you

every holiday season. Stay warm, keep healthy, and take care.

Do you have a special someone on Valentines Day
Someone who makes you feel good in every way
That special someone who lives within your heart
A person in your life who plays a special part

If you do, I hope your day is great
Sharing your love with the one you appreciate
A special time for two hearts to share
To show just how much you truly care

Maybe some time with a good friend
A heartfelt moment you could spend
Sharing memories heart to heart
Something to add to your life’s cart

Everyone needs a heart on hand
So they’re not buried in the sand
Someone to let you know your value
And how much you’re loved for being you

A smile, a hug, or maybe a handshake
A happy feeling that won’t cause heartbreak
On Valentines Day, I wish great love to all
Your heart’s worthy, so keep on standing tall

On Valentines Day I want to wish you all the greatest love you can

find or have. We’re all born with hearts to share with other, our love.

Whether it be a love, or a son or daughter, or parents, or a good friend.

Feel the beat in your heart. It’s there to remind you of the love

that was put there for you to share with others.

Spread that love around…and keep on smiling.

This next one isn't the same as the last one

On Valentines Day

On Valentines day share your heart

With those you love for they are a part

Let them know just how much you care

By showing your love for them being there

Appreciation in the act of love

Because it's them you're thinking of

Life goes too fast and before you know

People are gone, when did they go

Let them know what you feel today

Before their time here has gone away

Words of love are best is what I find

When you can express them through your mind

It could be a sister or a brother

Or your Father or your Mother

A nephew, an uncle, aunt, or niece

Send them some love, bring them some peace

Maybe a cousin or a special friend

Show them some love with all you can send

On Valentines Day, let it all come from your heart

Let your love show, by being a special part

Happy Valentines Everyone!

Remember to let someone you hold dear

know just how much you love them on this

special day. Let it all come from your heart.

Ring In The New Year

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 24, 2004

As we all get ready to ring in the New Year

I'm lost in the thoughts of all that happens here

Each year is filled with constant change

At the time they occur, they seem so strange

Someone you loved, turns away

Nothing could change it, nothing to say

You're brought back to a familiar place

With many new challenges that you must face

Got to be with friends I hadn't seen in awhile

Replaced my sadness with a wide open smile

My heart started beating strongly again

Surrounded myself with some new friends

I can hear the new year ringing

And it sounds good to my ears

I can carry on with what life's bringing

And let go of all my fears

As we get ready, to ring in the year 2005

I thank God for my journey, that kept me alive

As the year 2004, is left behind

Only the memories, remain in my mind

Happy New Year everyone.

May your new year hold many pleasant surprises

for each and every one of you. ~Bud~

Santa's Gift

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 19, 2006

Silence throughout the Tower on this Christmas Eve

A magical time for those who believe

Santa Claus was coming, we’re on his list

After all this is the Tower, so how could he miss

All residents snuggled away in their beds

Except for a few of those wandering heads

Excited and restless, of what the day will bring

All through the halls, you can hear them sing

Santa landed his reindeers on the roof, the sky was clear

Telling them he had gifts to deliver, so wait right here

He called to his elves, Len, Steve, & Mark

As he glanced South-East, towards Ludington Park

He handed each of them, a heavy sack

Told them to empty each, before coming back

It’s important each resident, receive these tonight”

To fill their souls with hope, and spiritual light”

The elves were busy, delivering gifts to each door

Seemed like forever, until there was no more

The sacks got much lighter, and their speed picked up

Steve wondered “Is one present really enough?”

Santa’s voice was loud, “a present filled with hopes and dreams”

It may seem so little, but it’s more than it seems”

For everyone needs this, to help them move on”

To finish life’s journey, that they are upon”

Len wondered, “What could it be?”

Inside each gift, that held such a key”

Santa again, “It’s a special gift I deliver to each”

When life seems so lonely, with friends out of reach”

The Angels have blessed them, and they’ve told me”

These presents hold more, than what you expect them to be”

Mark didn’t understand, what Santa was saying

Until later on he heard one resident praying

Dear Lord, I can’t go on, I’m tired of giving”

I haven’t a family, my friends have all stopped living”

I’m so lonely, this time of year”

Mark listened, Trying to hold back a tear

As he placed the present, and shut the door

He thought of the many, who have nothing to live for

He wondered what it would take, to give them hope

To help them through life, and help them to cope

Then he got home, with a gift with his name

After unwrapping it, he didn’t feel quite the same

He felt peace in his heart, he felt love in his soul

He thought it was empty, but that wasn’t so

He realized Santa’s Gift, that comes around each year

Was so powerful with its Christmas cheer

It was a happy time, this Christmas day

When the love arrived, on Santa’s red sleigh

Merry Christmas to all my friends

St.Patrick's Day

© by Bud Lemire on March 14, 2019

Have you seen the Leprechaun, he comes around each year

He'll do his very best, to offer you some green beer

He dances around in a jig, all dressed up in green

It's the most spectacular sight, that you've ever seen

They say he's been searching everywhere, for a pot of gold

Every time we see him, he doesn't seem to look that old

He tells everyone, he doesn't like to cook

Yet he'll eat a Ruben sandwich, if you take a look

Some say he spent too much time, at the Blarney Stone

Many still consider him, to be the Happy Gnome

A Leprechaun, is what you'll always see

That is all, he'd ever hope to be

A four leaf clover, is his lucky charm

A three leaf clover, will only cause alarm

Dance a jig, put on something green

Any other color on this day, should never be seen

You don't have to be Irish, to celebrate this holiday

Dance around in your green underwear, and enjoy it anyway

St. Patrick's Day is here again, let's all go green

Let's dance around the shamrock, and everywhere in between

Normally I don't wear green for this Holiday. Although I do have a

green shirt I can wear. If you're Irish, it's a must to celebrate your

heritage on this day. For me, I celebrate the Celtic music, that has

me dancing a jig every time I hear it playing. It has me celebrating

St. Patrick's Day every time I hear it. Happy St. Patrick's day!

Table Of Thanks

© by Bud Lemire on Nov 23, 2004

Giving thanks for the food before us

Thanking God for all the people we trust

And for all the love we are given

The breath of life that keeps us living

Giving thanks to the unselfish who share

The creatures of the land and of the air

Thank you for the gift to be able to feel

Thanks for the ability to be able to heal

Giving thanks for letting us be free

To choose and decide on all we can be

Thanks for the love we give in return

The lessons we're taught and the ones that we learn

Thanks for the senses that work so well

The touch, taste, hear, see, and the smell

Thank you God, for walking with me each step of the way

And for making your presence known in every day

Bless this food we're about to consume

And all of the flowers, whenever they bloom

Thanks for the love we give and receive

And thank you dear God, for in you we believe

Thanks For The Giving

© by Bud Lemire on Nov 18, 2006

When I think of Thanksgiving

I think of the life many are living

So many have nothing but a complaint

I know this isn’t right, but I’m not a saint

I know ill health, can make it hard to get around

But surely there’s more than bitterness to be found

It’s a waste of time, when you take time to complain

And it comes back stronger, causing you more pain

I give thanks for everything and everyone

For who they are, and what they’ve become

I appreciate them for the kind words that they say

And in return I wish them an extra special day

Life’s journey isn’t easy, this is something that I know

Things can’t always be done your way, no matter where you go

Many times the day’s events, must be taken with a grain of salt

Because upon this Earthly plane, you will always find some fault

I look for all the things, that pass most people by

So involved in their pain, and still they wonder why

I give thanks for everything, that people here are giving

And for all the love I feel, while I’m among the living

I want to thank all my friends who have become family to me.

Your presence, and kind words of support has touched me and helped me

through each day, and in so many ways. Thank you for sharing a part of you with me.

Thanksgiving Is All About Thankfulness

© by Bud Lemire on Nov 9, 2018

To Me, this is the meaning of Thanksgiving

Those in my life, whether passed, or still living

Thanking those in my life, and the kindness they share

By showing me good people, and that they really care

By knowing I am in, a really good home

They truly appreciate, when I share a poem

To know I am appreciated, in all that I do

And my dear neighbor, I truly appreciate you

Everyone we touch, in our lives every day

Has some sort of effect, on us in some way

Family and friends, each person that we know

Pass through our lives, touching upon our soul

It's not really about the meal, served on Thanksgiving day

It's all about the things and people, who have touched us in some way

The people who always find a way, to always stay in touch

The ones who show us their love, and show us just how much

The ones we can feel, deep down in our heart

The ones we know, will always be a special part

Souls that connect, will never be alone

Hearts that beat together, will never turn to stone

Never let a day pass, without being thankful for love

That we feel for others, we're always thinking of

Especially I feel, on this special Thanksgiving

Thank God for those passed, and those who are still living

For they have all, touched upon our lives in a wonderful way

Thanks for what they're always giving, on this Thanksgiving Day

The Thanksgiving meal always tastes really good. Beyond that,

I am so thankful for such good friends, who show how much they

care. Being a part of my life, is truly a blessing. I am happy to

have them in my life, and to know them. Those who have passed,

continue to be watching me from Heaven. Still touching me from

that Spiritual place. Those who are in my life presently, continue

to show their love and support and friendship, in a thankful way.

So I appreciate them, and I say Thanks For The Giving, for what

you are always giving me.

Thanksgiving Memories

© by Bud Lemire on Nov l4, 2009

Whenever I think of Thanksgiving

I think of this life I'm living

Those who stood by me through it all

Those who held me up so I wouldn't fall

What would we do without those who believed

They truly were there when we grieved

Through life's changes, they were there

Making everything so much easier to bear

Many of us have our own traditions we follow in November

Memories of a special gathering families share together

Sitting down with a wonderful meal to eat

Giving thanks for a moment that can't be beat

For me I remember the turkey and the dressing

Giving thanks for the food, because it truly was a blessing

In our family we had lime jello every time

Crushed pineapple and carrots, and it tasted mighty fine

Cranberry sauce was added to the table

If you had room on your plate, or if you were able

Mashed potatoes and gravy always hit the spot

I should have taken less, but every year I forgot

Then there was dessert, hoping I'd have room

But I was wrong, I guess it was too early to assume

Thinking of Thanksgiving, brings to mind

So many special memories that I find

Hoping your Thanksgiving brings you some special

memories you can look back on. It's truly a blessing

to be able to take part in the gathering and enjoy the

food that took many hours to prepare.

Thanks for the giving!

Thanksgiving Memories

© by Bud Lemire on Nov 20, 2022

I enjoyed sitting down, at Thanksgiving with family

Now I can look back, at the cherished memory

Mom, Dad, John, Terry, and me

Turkey was the best it could be

Potatoes with gravy, and dressing too

Cranberry sauce, either one will do

Lime jello with carrots and pineapple inside

Green and black olives, that were too hard to hide

There were leftovers, after a meal like this one

Turkey sandwiches to eat, was the most fun

Those were the days, I still remember

Way back then, on a cold day in November

I'm never as thankful, as remembering family on this day

At the old family home, and the games we would play

My sister Nancy came over, we'd play games for awhile

Thinking of those days, always brings me a smile

Times keep on changing, and people pass away

It's best to enjoy them, every moment of each day

When it comes to us, each day that we're living

Enjoy each year with family, and have a Happy Thanksgiving

Life changes, and time moves ahead. But the memories are

great to look back on. The smiles, the company you kept,

the food at Thanksgiving, the games we played, and that

special time in life when you had no worries at all. You

just enjoyed all the foods that your family made every

year.

Thanksgiving Time
© b
y Bud Lemire on May 20, 2010

Thanksgiving time comes to us in November
A great time to celebrate and to remember
The Pilgrims and Native Americans feasted on this day
Giving thanks for the food that came their way

The Turkey gives up its life so that we can have its meat
Gathering with family so we can get stuffed when we eat
Turkey and dressing. Potatoes and gravy, and more
Having this food to eat, is what I’m thankful for

I’ll eat a little of everything on my plate
And I always let it be known that I appreciate
The jello tasted great, how I love the taste of lime
A traditional dish that’s been in my family for a long time

Everyone seems to have the green bean casserole
I always take a little from the bowl
I fill up my plate with as much as I can
Stuffed like a Turkey is what I usually am

I hardly have any room when dessert comes around
But after walking around, some room is found
For the rest of the day, I keep busy working off the food
I ate everything so I wouldn’t come across as rude
But all in all, the food tasted great
Thanksgiving Time is a great time to appreciate

Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving this year.

The Lime Jello I talked about in this poem is made with carrots

and crushed pineapple in it. It’s been in my family for years.

Pass the Turkey, I’ll have another slice.

That Holiday Hare

© by Bud Lemire on April 8, 2007

The Easter Bunny leaves a basket on my door
The Bunny use to leave it in the hall, but that was long before
Quiet now, and I will take a peek
No one is in sight, so now I can speak

You see long ago, Easter was just another day
Until my sister changed that, she knew she’d have her way
She’d come over to the house, and leave a basket there
Filled with lots of candy, from that Holiday Hare

She’d always sneak in the front, and put it in its place
Then race around the back, entering with a smile on her face
We’d tell her the Easter Bunny came
Mom and I knew that Easter Bunny had a name

I remember once, she tripped while trying to get away
Luckily we didn’t notice, we were watching TV that special day
You see my sister’s thoughtful, and won’t leave anyone out
If you knew her like I do, there wouldn’t be any doubt

She invites me for the holidays, to share a special meal
Prepared by her and family, which is a really great deal
I wanted to once again take this time, to let someone know I care
You know by now who I mean, my sister Nancy, That Holiday Hare

Thank you Nancy, for making each Easter and Holiday

so special to me. I hope you always know how special you are to me.

The 4th Of July
© by Bud Lemire on June 27, 2009

Thunderous sounds bring on colorful lights in the sky
It’s time once again, to celebrate the 4th of July
So many colors appearing, and spreading out
Ooohs and awwwws are heard all about

In the darkness, the color shines all around
From the sky comes another thunderous sound
Greens, reds, blues, and yellows appear all over the sky
Beauty is so often beheld by everyone’s eye

People sitting on the ground, many are sitting in their chair
Some have sparklers, or are lighting firecrackers over there
A bottle rocket shoots into the sky over head
And atop the hill I see there is a pair of newlyweds

Holding hands and they gaze at the sky
I see the love gleaming in their eye
Blue eyes, brown eyes, flash of color in the air
Fireworks thunder while it’s love they share

For them, every day is like the 4th of July
You can see it if you look in their eye
It’s a great night for sparks, it’s a great night for love
While the colors are shining down from far above
The finalé brings on the last thunder of the night
Darkness comes, but these two dance away in the light

Nothing is as great as watching the Fireworks on the 4th Of July

with the one you love. Sharing in the special moment,

on a very special night. I wish everyone a Great 4th Of July,

and hoping you’re sharing it with the ones you love.

Here's another one with the same title

The 4th Of July

© by Bud Lemire on July 3, 2015

As people gather at Ludington Park

To await the Fireworks when it is dark

The Escanaba City Band plays at the Bandshell

While vendors serve what they have to sell

Waiting for the Fireworks to start

While sparklers set off a spark

Firecrackers in the distant, so very loud

It's the 4th of July, in this happy crowd

Chairs set around, as people chat

This is the place where it's all at

Friends are here, and family

So many people that you can see

There are people watching from atop the hill

A little kid has a drink just waiting to spill

Running down the hill, from here to there

The drink flies all over, everywhere

The Fireworks begin and soon starts the show

A display of lights that blast to a glow

All kinds of colors appear in the sky

It's another Escanaba 4th Of July

I always enjoy watching the Fireworks and

chatting with different people I see down at

Ludington park. Listening to the Escanaba

City Band play while we await the Fireworks.

Watching kids play with sparklers. And of

course I take pictures to remember each year.

The 4th Up North

© by Bud Lemire on June 30, 2022

We're celebrating the 4th

Way up here in the Yooper North

Fireworks will be flying, and all colors will be seen

Blue, red, yellow, and let's not forget the green

People will be scattered, throughout Ludington Park

On the night we celebrate, it shall be quite dark

The Escanaba City Band, will put on quite a show

At the bandshell, is one place you can go

Many people will be there, some who have been away

Returning for the festivities, throughout the night and day

Sparklers will be seen, as the kids run around

Remember not to litter, it looks nasty on the ground

Some will have, their own private Fireworks show

The sky above Escanaba, will be aglow

Firecrackers will be noisy, at this time of year

Ear Plugs come in handy, for a good night here

On this Independence Day, let us celebrate

Becoming the nation we are today, that made us great

As you're celebrating, going back and forth

Remember, we're celebrating the 4th Up North

It's always fun to celebrate the 4th in Escanaba, no

matter which day we celebrate. Ludington Park is

a great place to be. Just a reminder, although we

have some really dedicated people here, who pick

up litter after the festivities, let's try to remember

to pick up after ourselves and not be slobs. We are

better than that. Enjoy the 4th wherever you are and

whatever day you celebrate it on.

Happy 4th from Up North!

The Best In A Happy New Year

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 16, 2015

As one year comes to an end, a new one will begin

I think of all my blessings, and I do so with a grin

Thoughts of what has passed, now becomes the old

Things that are yet to come, waiting to unfold

Each year comes, and there's so much in each one

A story in our lives, until that year is done

What will the new one, have in store for me

If it is as great as this one, I can't wait to see

Sunsets, sunrises, clouds up in the sky

Chipmunks, squirrels, and the birds that love to fly

Events and feelings, of the love I feel

Closer to my heart and soul, all that can be real

Like a Picture Book, captured with my eye

I make the most of each day, as it passes by

I snap a picture, and I can look back and see

To a time captured, replayed in my memory

I can look at any picture, and be right there and then

Like a long ago lifetime, yet I often remember when

I look forward to a new adventure, in the New Year

As the people who have passed, whisper in my ear

They guide me on my journey, to let me know they are there

They support me with their love, and they know I am aware

The love of a woman, who I love so very much

A gentle soul, with that special human touch

She completes me in all ways, with her divine light

She's always in my dreams, every single night

Wherever you may go, wherever you will be

Remember to love all creatures, that is the key

Dance to the music, listen closely and you'll hear

Me wishing you, the best in a Happy New Year

Every year brings us so many great things and

experiences to look back on. As the years move

ahead, there is so much to look forward to. Many

times it's the unexpected happenings that just pop up

at any given moment, that makes each year special

The journey continues. I wonder what the new year

will bring this year. Happy New Year!

The Christmas Angel

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 22, 2021

He stood right by the Christmas Tree

Each gift, well wrapped, several meant for me

Covid took me, there was nothing I could do

It was way too much, to have to go through

I stand beside him, in spirit I am there

I make an ornament move, because I care

I was the love of his life, and he was mine

Every night, we'd share, a small glass of wine

I just wish, I could bring a smile to his face

When he frowns, it seems so out of place

What can I do, they say time heals

But I understand, just how he feels

There's an Angel ornament, hanging on the tree

He cherishes it, because it reminds him of me

He can't move on, until he says goodbye

I couldn't live like I was, so I had to die

All of a sudden, there was a light in the Angel's eye

Tears fell from his eyes, and he continued to cry

Carolers outside the door, “White Christmas” they sang

Just down the street, the Church bells rang

He felt his heart, as it began a steady beat

He smelled perfume, it was very sweet

It was Apricot, the fragrance that she always wore

He smelled it, whenever she came in the door

He smiled and said “Merry Christmas my dear”

She came to visit him, on Christmas each year

White Christmas” was her favorite song. And it

brought him back to reality, and back to life.

He realized that she may have passed, but she

was still around him. Because love never dies.

Especially when you have such a strong bond

of love like they did. He went on to celebrate

many years of Christmas, and even remarried.

The Christmas Beat

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 19, 2019

Christmas time was coming, thought little Tommy Plummer

All he thought about, was he'd like to be a drummer

Just like his idol, Ringo, whom one day he'd meet

Because this little boy, certainly had the beat

Every year that rolled around

Christmas day brought no sound

How was he to be a drummer without a drum

It's like being a hummer without a hum

His parents he knew, he could make them proud

They kept saying, a drum would be too loud

It had to be loud, that's what made it a drum

If it was a guitar, then it would be strum

Playing his favorite drum music, nothing did change

What's wrong with them, his parents sure are strange

He had to get through to them, make them see

Of the great drummer, with practice, he could be

He prayed every night, that he'd soon get his drum

Then before going to sleep, he'd spit out his gum

His thoughts always took him, to the greatest Star of all

Ringo, Oh Ringo, I wish I could call”

The Delivery truck arrived, a big box was here

A packaged never ordered, his parents were in fear

Inside, was a very large drum

Off in the distance, there was a hum

It was already opened, they let him try it out

They knew he sounded great, there wasn't any doubt

A big car drove up, they recognized his face

It was Ringo, and the drum came to the wrong place

He heard Tommy play, and knew he had the beat

Ringo smiled, and then took a seat

He did take his drum, but the very next year

A drum in a large box, brought Christmas cheer

Tommy went on to be a hit with his drum

He started a band, and the beat had a strum

The Christmas Bell

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 19, 2018

All was silent, on this Christmas night

The tree was lit, with a colorful light

Ornaments hanging, from the tree

One was a bell, given to me

On this silent night, in this winter wonderland

That bell started ringing, not by a human hand

Mom gave it to me, and then she went

She said when it rings, it'll be Heaven sent

The family surrounded the tree, as it rang

It was Mom's favorite song, that they sang

They could almost hear her, singing along

This love they felt, was what made them strong

She always loved this time of year

They each felt her love, as it drew near

She loved each one so very much

One by one, they felt her Heavenly touch

They remembered the last words she said

Just before her body became dead

When you stand around the Christmas Tree”

If the bell should ring, you'll know it's me”

Mom was never one to pass up a family event

Each of them knew, that bell, was Heaven sent

So often we think those who left this world are gone.

Yet they can be so very close, we can feel them. Just

remember their human bodies are gone, but their souls

within become amazing spirits that gather around the

ones they love. They try to tell us, but we have not

tuned them in. So they try whatever means they can

to remind us, that at Christmas time, they are with us.

The Easter Field

© by Bud Lemire on April 16, 2003

As the child falls to sleep, in a dream he sees

Marshmallow butterflies flying around, and some honeybees

And the Easter Bunny, leads him down a trail

Hopping at a steady pace, with his bushy tail

All the grass around, are various colors to his eyes

He wonders about the trail ahead, and what lies in surprise

It must be important, because he only comes once a year

Hope he's not in danger, as he shakes that notion clear

His arrival at a meadow, takes his breath away

There's so much Easter candy, he wonders if he may

The Easter Bunny shakes his head, nodding his okay

So the child starts picking colored eggs, wherever they may lay

Inside each colored egg, is something good to eat

It might be jelly beans or chocolate, lying at your feet

Baskets are hanging on the trees, on the meadow's border

And inside the purple egg, he finds a chocolate quarter

Startled, he jumps back, not knowing what to do

But it is just a gummy snake, looking up at you

The trees holding the baskets, are made of chocolate too

There is caramel on the inside, he wonders how they grew

Oh this must be a dream, to have so much to eat

So many goodies, it must be my Easter treat

He searches for the Easter Bunny, and the long ears and that bushy tail

Maybe he's gone making other dreams come true, down that bunny trail

The Gift Of Christmas

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 13, 2015

It's not always the gifts under the tree

That makes Christmas mean the most to me

It's the gathering of friends and family

And all the love that is shared, freely

It's the gift of fully feeling alive

The Journey taken, now when you arrive

The gift of love that you feel with your Soul Mate

Heartfelt blessings of everything you appreciate

The Angel at the top of the tree, watching over you

All the things in life that you have been through

The beauty in the sky when the sun sets and rises

Through the years, all the pleasant little surprises

All the colored lights all over the Christmas Tree

Reminding me that each soul has their own special beauty

Each of us being unique, each of us shine

Like the lights on the tree, we are the lights of the divine

Each day beholds a gift for each

You learn, experience, and teach

As you open the gifts from under the tree

Think of the greatest gift, The Gift To Be

At Christmas time I always think of the people

who guided me in friendship and helped mold

me to be who I am today. They touched me with

their love, and made me proud to be happy as I

live this life I am living. We are truly miracles

here on Earth. Souls with such a wonderful

personality. When we help each other as we

travel down the journey of life, it makes me

appreciate people even more.

Merry Christmas to one and all.

The Halloween Tower

© by Bud Lemire on Oct 22, 2006

A night at the Tower, on one Halloween

So much was going on, yet so much in between

The ghosts teamed up with all of the witches

And turned on and off, all the light switches

They set off the alarms, when there wasn’t a fire

And all of the computers, seemed to have gone haywire

The washers and the dryers are on, but no clothes to be found

And a well tuned ear, will pick up a low humming sound

Those who wander around at this ghastly hour

Will find either a trick or a treat at the Harbor Tower

For the Tower seems to have a life of its own

And the ringing wouldn’t stop on Len’s phone

Mark came to the rescue, but he didn’t know what to do

He was as much in the dark, without any clue

As we tried to figure out what was happening here

Some of us were overcome with a sudden fear

The chairs in the activity room made a clanging sound

But looking in there, there was no one around

Across the hall, pool balls were moving on the table there

And there was an aroma of cigar smoke in the air

Many of us decided it was best to go to bed

So to the elevators is where our bodies were lead

Going up” or “going down” usually spoken by the host

Was now a loud laughter, a message from a ghost

All of us were worried, wondering if we’d make it to our floor

When an image appeared, transparent on the door

It was hard to believe, what was being seen

The ghost of Groucho Marx, saying “Happy Halloween”

The Leprechaun

© by Bud Lemire on March 17, 2014

I chased a Leprechaun through Ludington Park

All dressed in bright green, it wasn't too dark

He kicked me in the left knee

And stole my camera away from me

I chased him around the Municipal Dock

In the snow he drew a shamrock

Out by the Water Plant I gave chase

It turned out to be a St.Patrick's Day race

By The Yacht Harbor, he ran right by

I want my camera back!” I let out a cry

He smiled as he crossed the bridge and ran

He sure was faster than any other man

I chased him around Aronsons Island and the Beach House

That mischievous Leprechaun was quicker than a mouse

All through the Park and behind the Bandshell

He sure was putting me through a lot of hell

It was a green day in hell for me to say

When I'll let a Leprechaun get away

I'll get my camera back, you wait and see

He won't make a green monkey out of me

I found the snow quite packy and made a big ball

I watched the ice nearby so I wouldn't fall

As the Leprechaun came around the snowbank, I got ready to throw

The camera clicked, and the snowball I just let it go

I should have been worried, but my camera is okay

The Leprechaun just got up and he ran away

I wanted to get home, so I started walking back

I think he mentioned something about The Record Rack

Watch Out Steve & Sue!

The Light From The Other Side

© by Bud Lemire on Nov 29, 2017

The Christmas lights were on, all along Ludington street

Candy canes hung on trees, residents wanted something sweet

It was very quiet, on this special holiday

The only people seen, was a man in a van that was gray

Inside the van, was a man who recently lost his wife

He had been considering, if he should take his life

He remembered life, the way it use to be

There were some things, he just couldn't see

Two Angels walked beside him, soon he would be aware

His life would have more meaning, somebody did care

A spirit of a woman, who had golden hair

Walking right beside him, but he was not aware

She held him tightly, and with a whisper in his ear

Said “You must go on enjoying life, it is precious here”

So caught up in his own sadness, he didn't hear what was said

The woman that he loved, was alive in spirit, not dead

Soon the light of love, would come shining through

As the golden haired spirit merged saying “I Love You”

All of a sudden he changed so quick

He felt her love, it had done the trick

Baby, you must go on enjoying life, I'll always be around”

I'll share in all the happiness, wherever you are found”

He felt her love, and words could be heard in his mind

He wondered, how he could have been so blind

Baby, there are still some things that you need to do”

Before the Journey you are on, is over and is through”

She put an image in his head

Of a woman with hair so red

She was holding a baby, with a smile on his face

Baby this is your future, it will bring you to a wonderful place”

I want you to be happy, until your journey is complete”

Then when it is over, it will be our time to meet”

Along with all his fallen tears

He felt all his banished fears

It was going to be a better Christmas, than he would ever know

Because of the special message, from someone with a special soul

I know at Christmas time, sadness can be felt for us who are missing

someone who is in Heaven. But know this, they join us in every occasion

and wouldn't miss the time to be with us. Even though we can't see them.

They are with us, and sharing their love with us.

The New Year

© by Bud Lemire on January 1, 2008

What does the New Year mean to me?
New hopes and dreams of what will be
New paths to take, new adventures too
Twists and turns that make a great life for you

I know it can be boring at times, but it does change
Some events in your life may even seem to be strange
Not everything we go through is always understood
But everyone’s life is filled with a lot of good

I wish you much good in this new year
Taking chances without all the fear
Leaving the past and starting anew
Because you deserve the best for you

Value each day as though it’s your last
Because the time here goes way too fast
Appreciate each person for who they are
For their journey too has taken them far

Each year is filled with its share of wonderful things
And we move ahead to see what else it brings
I bid you a special year in this new one
Filled with much love before it’s done

Happy New Year!

The New Year Has Begun

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 26, 2022

The bells rang

The Angels sang

The New Year has begun

The people came

It's not the same

This New Year will be different

Like every year before

Some will bring you more

Yet each will be special

So do your best

And take a rest

You will make it through

Like in every year

There will be a tear

But also joy included

Don't look too hard

You hold the card

The ticket to your future

So have no fear

Happy New Year

Make this one the best

Happy New Year!

The New Year’s Bell

By Bud Lemire on Dec 26, 2010

Are you ringing in the New Year’s Bell
If you are, I’d like to wish you well
Each New Year is different than the one before
And truly, who could ask for anything more

I’ll admit many times the changes scare the hell out of me
But I know it’s the unknown of events I can’t foresee
When they come, they aren’t as bad as they seem
I walk this world as if I’m in a dream

I hear the New Year’s Bell ringing
I wonder what this New Year Is bringing
Many wonderful scenes that I can capture
Another year of living in this rapture

More times with friends that I like
And more journeys taken on my bike
While one year ends, another one will start
And I know I’ll be playing my part

The New Year’s Bells are ringing in my ear
The Angels are beside me, I feel them near
They guide me every step of the way
They help me through, every day
As I listen and hear the New Year’s Bell
The Angels are here to help you as well

Wishing you all a Happy New Year as the New Year’s bells are ringing

This next one is a different one

The New Year's Bells

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 19, 2019

The New Year' bells are ringing

What will the New Year be bringing

Good health, good luck, and lots of love

All good thoughts that I can think of

Happiness for family and friends of mine

And a wish for a really good time

Hopes of peace, wherever you'll be

Because this is the success and it's life's key

Unlock all the doors, see what's behind

Think good thoughts, with a healthy mind

Enjoy each moment, on a sunny day

Take time off from work, go off to play

On a rainy day, don't sulk in the gloom

Do something special, don't let it ruin

Make every moment count, for all it can be

Because life is so often cut short, in our destiny

Eat well, but don't eat too much

Enjoy a friend's light and gentle touch

The New Year's bells are ringing

What will the New Year be bringing

Whatever the New Year will bring, let's hope

it's a great start to a brand New Year. Keep

your vision focused, because it will be a 2020

year. You'll see things more clearly, you'll know

things. May the New Year bring you everything

you have been wanting and hoping for.

The Witches Song

© by Bud Lemire on Oct 17, 2019

It's Halloween, and the wind blows strong

If you listen closely, you'll hear the Witches song

They've put together a special brew

It'll do something bizarre to you

Don't drink it, don't drink it I say!

Heed my warning, and you'll be okay

Don't take a drink from a Witch

It's not Mountain Dew, she made a switch

She can make it hard to resist

It's even worse if you've been kissed

There's magic there, upon her lip

There's poison there, if you take a sip

She has no wand, and doesn't wiggle her nose

For it's hidden well, and she won't expose

Within her, lies such a wicked power

It's even stronger during the Witching Hour

She doesn't have a broom, she doesn't fly

That's just a myth, a man made lie

Listen closely, and don't take me wrong

Block your ears, from The Witches Song

You have been warned of The Witches Song.

You may be asking if they are a good witch or

a bad witch. On this Halloween, you will see

Witches of all sizes and shapes. They'll take

your candy and run, to the next house. If you

are careful, you may just have a Happy Halloween!

Their Earthly Home

© by Bud Lemire on Oct 22, 2006

Halloween night at the tower, the wind’s blowing outside

While on the elevators, the residents ride

Going about their routine, all that is shown

Unaware of what’s going on, in the unknown

In the laundry room, eerie as it may sound

Former residents, now passed, all gather around

They have returned to what was once their Earthly Home

And it’s here on this night, that they like to roam

You may ask, what are they doing here

Harmless they are, yet still you may fear

They’ve come to the place, where they always belong

Their home here on Earth, now sung as Heaven’s song

But they don’t come here to scare

They return here, for it’s love that they share

But many of us take it all the wrong way

And never understand what they have to say

They see all of our pain and routine as being mundane

So you may believe you are going insane

But that’s not their agenda, that’s not their plan

They come around here, because they can

Remember the next time, that you encounter a ghost

They’ve returned to the place that they loved the most

This 4th Of July

© by Bud Lemire on July 4th, 2016

Sitting by the Bandshell, in Ludington Park

The Fireworks will start, right after dark

They start off a little bit slow

After awhile, then they let go

I sit with my camera, snapping away

Hoping one of the shots, will be okay

A green one, a blue one, a fantastic white

Up in the sky, on this 4th of July night

Sparklers are seen as kids run on by

As I take in the surroundings, with my eye

The City Band played earlier, before it got dark

A magical evening spent in Ludington Park

Oohing and awing, at each display in the sky

I know some people, that have just walked on by

Never knowing how each Firework will look like

I walked here tonight, left behind my red bike

The finalé is close, and spectacular to see

All shot close together, a great light show to me

It's time to leave, another year is done

This 4th of July, sure was a lot of fun

Even though the fireworks don't change that much.

It's fun to sit in the dark and watch as they open up

in the sky, to be what they are. Never knowing what

color, or how big it will be. The reaction of the kids,

the gathering of people, and the feeling of just being

there and enjoying the time. Wishing everyone a

Happy 4th Of July.

This Time Of Year

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 10, 2006

This is the time of the year

When you prepare, for the end is near

A special celebration around a decorated tree

And gathering of friends and family

Right now you’re trying to finish up

Your Christmas shopping, hoping you bought enough

And wrapping them up, which isn’t hard

But then you have to send out all those Christmas cards

Then there’s so many people in the store

It’s hard to find what you’re looking for

But once you find it, you want to shout

Until you see the long line at the check out

While you wait, thoughts gather in your mind

Maybe you should shop earlier next time

Yet when the time comes, those thoughts pass

Because this time of year, comes way too fast

I’m sure whatever it is you bought

They’ll treasure forever in their thoughts

And the time together, will be special and dear

When love is felt, This Time Of Year

Sometimes the stress at this time of year can weigh heavily on you.

But whatever you buy for those you love will always be appreciated and loved,

because it came from you

Those Leprechauns

© by Bud Lemire on March 17, 2003

Those Leprechauns are at it again, on this St. Patrick’s Day

How do they seem to do it, and always get away

They set my clock, forty five minutes ahead

And so I got up earlier, out of my bed

Relaxing at the computer, that belongs to my Father-In-Law

And there upon the screen, I couldn't believe what I saw

My wife and I logged on, but how could this be

Our computer was in storage, so how could that be me

I tell you, are my eyes seeing what I think

This would be a good time, for me to have a drink

Maybe a cup of Irish Tea, no Leprechauns involved

As I ponder on these happenings, wondering if they will be solved

Could it be, someone captured me in a time loop

Maybe next thing I know, I'll be using a Hula Hoop

I don't know why or how, and maybe it's for the best

To play with my senses, and put them to a test

I tell you what I say here, is as exactly as I've seen

And I have two witnesses, so it was not a dream

I'm sure glad Those Leprechauns, only come around once a year

Hey! What is this clover, doing stuck inside my ear

Twaz The Night Before Christmas

parody © by Bud Lemire on Jan 9, 2004

Twaz the night b'fore Christmas, when all through the house

Not a creature was purring, not a cat or a mouse

The stockings were nailed, and full of cat hair

And Whiskers was asleep, on a pile of underwear

Aunja was in her room, with the TV volume turned low

Watching "Lizze McGuire" reruns, hoping no one would know

Mom and Dad, were asleep in their bed

Wanda & I were playing online Cribbage instead

When from outside the house, there was a loud sound

Wanda and I ran to the window, but nothing was found

We saw nothing as we looked everywhere

Except there on the window, was more cat hair

There was such a wind, as the rain started to pour

Then there was a light, too bright to ignore

We watched and wondered, what we would see

It looked like Santa Claus, climbing up a big old tree

He jumped on our roof, with a loud plop

We heard him call out names, when he was at the top

Now Jeannie, Clyde, Dick, Terry, Nancy, and Jay

On Jim, on Cheryl, and John he did say

He ran to the chimney, followed by nine mice

Good thing the roof, wasn't covered with ice

Down the chimney he came, and made such a mess

He gazed at our tree, picking the bulb he liked best

The mice scurried all about

When Santa yelled "Hurry, get out!"

Whiskers and Blue, the resident cats in the house

Chased them up the chimney, 'til there was no mouse

Santa looked like he'd been through hell

Stressed out anxiety, you sure could tell

He ate some cookies, that Aunja had made

Then sat at the computer, a game of Bloobs he played

He took out the presents, he had in his sack

Hoping he did good, 'cause they weren't going back

His big belly shook like a big bowl of apricot jello

And you could tell, he was one awesome old fellow

We laughed as we watched as he ate

Such a grand old elf, we thought he was great

He filled the stockings, and they stretched quite a bit

Then he stretched himself, too long did he sit

Up to the chimney, to check on his mice

They were all sliding, on a patch of thin ice

Then he got in, and flew away on his toboggan

The magic flying mice, with rain on the noggin

We heard him yell, more of his Santa advice

"Lock up your cats, when I have my mice!"

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year to All

Just a little parody when I was in Montesano Washington

Valentine Of Mine

© by Bud Lemire on Feb 10, 2006

Will you be my Valentine

And place your heart right next to mine

For that is where it's meant to be

Me loving you, you loving me

I long to hold your heart nearby

And keep on holding it until I die

When I change spiritually and become a ghost

My presence felt, around the one I love most

For our love is so very deep

One that we shall always keep

I love you so much, my Native Valentine

I want you always to be mine

I thank the spirits, for showing you the way

Bringing you back to me, making my everyday

I've never loved one, as much as I love you

You touch my soul, with everything you do

This is what I'd like to say

On this heartfelt special day

Will you dance the dance of life with me

A Valentine of Mine, I hope you'll be

Valentine Of My Soul

© by Bud Lemire on Feb 12, 2011

Dearest woman, Valentine Of My Soul
We share the deepest love that anyone could know
We’re there for each other when we’re in need
Our love is based on love, not upon greed

Understanding of each other is what we learned
Even when it seemed our hearts ached and burned
It’s this understanding that’ll bring us far
For knowing one another shows us who we are

We learned a lot about honesty, lessons based on trust
For our love to be the strongest, being true was a must
We fought side by side against jealousy, until we overcame
Realizing our love never strayed, no one was to blame

You conquered all your fears when your love brought you here
Putting your trust in God, you overcame that fear
You found out how deep our love could be
When you shared “The Summer Of Love” with me

You learned of what you could have, when your life is based on love
When you allow your soul to be guided by the spirits from above
Sometimes the absence of what you’ve always known
Helps to recognize a greater love that’s grown
What you give comes back to you” is what you know
I give you all my love, Valentine Of My Soul

November 13, 2006 we met online when the spirits brought us together. From that day on, our souls have embraced each other with a deep and understanding love that’ll carry us along until we reach journey’s end. Thank you Linda, Valentine Of My Soul

Valentines Day

© by Bud Lemire on Feb 9, 2013

It's Valentines Day, and inside my heart

Is a romantic map, that shows you're a part

Forever you'll live there, a part of my soul

Love so complete, will always be your role

We're share in the treasures of every day

We'll share in the pleasures in every way

Always, we'll be together as one

And holding each other, when the day is done

The beat of the heart, happiness found

We dance on a cloud, far above ground

Your voice sends tingles, all the way through

My body is buzzing, when I hear from you

Thoughts of you, sends a smile to my face

My heart picks up speed, and starts to race

I am so happy, with the love that we share

Every day is wonderful, with love in the air

Valentines Day is so special this year

Because your love is always here

Happy Valentines Day, Angel of mine

I'm very happy, you're my Valentine

For my Valentine, Vicki

When The Easter Bunny Came

© by Bud Lemire on April 4, 2019

When the Easter Bunny came to our house

He was so very quiet, just like a mouse

He'd hide Easter Baskets all over the place

When we were kids, that was always the case

In the Pantry bin, one of us kids found one there

The others were still looking, they thought it unfair

Another was found in the oven, the stove wasn't heated

The other kid looked for his, he didn't feel defeated

In the Living room, right behind the rocking chair

That's where he found it, just sitting there

It was always fun, to find what was brought

The Easter Bunny made it fun, is what I thought

Years later, when Easter came around

From the front door, there came a knocking sound

There in the hallway, an Easter basket was found

Just the Easter basket, nobody else was around

My Sister, moments later, was coming in the back door

She smiled when seeing the Easter basket, what was that for

We suspected it was her, she always had a good heart

She wanted to make Easter, a very special part

She brought back Easter, to our family home

A good memory, that was worth writing about in this poem

Thank you Nancy, my sister, for all the kindness you have given. We

truly know what a wonderful heart you have. For you have shown it

time and time again.

You Are My Valentine

© by Bud Lemire on Feb 12, 2008

Dear woman, would you be my Valentine
So I could always have your heart with mine
Hold me tight and never let go
Because dear woman, I love you so

I love the words that you say
That touch my soul in every way
I love your voice, energetic and strong
So beautiful, it’s my favorite song

I love your eyes, so blue and glowing
And your love for me, that is always flowing
I feel your presence, every night
Your love’s Angelic, filled with spiritual light

You give to me, all that you can
You make me feel, like a happy man
Dedicated to all that we are
You are my shining star

I love you with every breath that I take
I love your embrace, each morning I wake
So it’s only right, that you should be mine
Because every day, You Are My Valentine
